La Setmana Santa és per als cristians la més important de l'any al commemorar els Misteris centrals de la vida de Jesucrist: la seva Passió, Mort i Resurrecció.

Va precedida per la Quaresma que finalitza en la Setmana de Passió on es celebra l'eucaristia el Dijous Sant, es commemora la Crucifixió de Jesús el Divendres Sant i la Resurreció en la vigília Pasqual durant la nit del Dissabte Sant al Diumenge de Resurrecció.

En Benicarló és una mostra de tradició i espiritualitat i un cant a la unitat i fraternitat de les seves Confraries i Germandats que són portadores de valors profundament enraigats i enfortits, al llarg del temps, amb la missió de traslladar al carrer aquest gran Misteri.

No voldríem oblidar-nos d'agrair a aquelles persones que han format part de la Junta el treball que han realitzat amb entrega, il.lusió i esforç.

Des de aquestes línies volem fer-los partícips de tots els actes preparats per a poder viure aquesta Setmana Santa intensament, ja que participant en ella, es compren la manifestació de fervor que es viu en els carrers de Benicarló recordant aquests moments tan importants en la vida de Jesús.

A lo largo de esta semana las procesiones rituales adquieren una gran belleza con sus tallas escultóricas de gran renombre y antigüedad, y sus nazarenos, recorriendo en silencio las calles del núcleo antiguo de la ciudad.

Las diferentes procesiones tienen lugar el Miércoles Santo, Viernes Santo (el Vía Crucis del Alba al amanecer, y la Procesión del Santo Entierro por la noche) y Domingo de Resurrección, con la procesión del Encuentro entre las imágenes de Jesús Resucitado y de la Virgen María.
